It’s time for our Zoomark 2019 round-up! We’re back from Zoomark 2019 where we joined over 700 companies from all over the world in celebrating the show’s 18th anniversary.
The International Exhibition of Products and Accessories is held in Bologna, Italy, from Monday 6th to Thursday 9th May 2019. It serves as a powerful networking platform for the global pet supplies market.
It’s an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to showcase innovative products. They can also explore new trends, promote business and develop new partnerships.
In over 30 years, Zoomark International has been growing along with the pet care market. Over time it has progressively grown a huge international calling and welcomed increasingly high numbers of exhibitors and buyers globally.
That’s why we’re proud to be a frequent exhibitor at what is one of the top trade events in Europe. In addition, we welcomed some new faces, along with some familiar favourites to our stand.
We revealed our new Ready 2 Recycle range for the first time ever in Europe this year. The bags attracted a variety of businesses searching for sustainable pet packaging solutions.
Our recyclable pouches, flat bottom and woven BOPP bags stood out in the show as they provide the fantastic on-shelf presentation businesses are looking for; whilst appealing to today’s consumers, who actively seek (and prefer) sustainable and flexible packaging options.
Along with our Ready 2 Recycle range, we had our diverse pet care portfolio on display. This consisted of some of our work with global retailers, supermarkets and innovative start-up brands.
Many of the valued clients, whose product packaging we had on our stand, also attended the show. From Canagan, Pets Choice, Pero Foods, Little Big Paw, McAdams, Lily’s Kitchen and Yora to name but a few.
There was a variety of impressive stands, most of which focused on sustainability. They highlighted fresh produce and followed a natural theme in keeping with the packaging trends we’ve seen so far this year.
New Products Showcase
In the next part of our Zoomark 2019 round-up, we’d like to talk about the new products. During the show, we went over to the New Products Showcase, which is a focal point of the event.
Over 400 products were located in the dedicated Mall. Many UK participants offer a preview of some of the most interesting and innovative new ideas on the market.
There was a reoccurring pattern throughout the New Products Showcase and exhibition floor. These were the similarities between pet food packaging and human packaging in terms of design and format types.
The transparency trend (something which we spotted at earlier trade shows including Packaging Innovations and Global Pet Expo) was prevalent again at Zoomark. Many brands, old and new, opted for the see-through window feature on their packaging to show off their pet products.
There was also a huge focus on health, from supplements to treats made with CBD and natural herbs and ingredients. Conscious consumers are more health aware than ever before in this current climate and they now expect to have the same choices for their pets.
Along with health care, there was also a large focus on luxury items such as perfumes, premium foods and freshly baked goods. Memory foam beds, fancy bowls, interactive toys and even prams are also featured. Retailers have begun to offer more specific pet products.
Pets have never been so pampered and pet care buyers show no signs of slowing down on their spending, with many UK buyers confirming that they would rather cut back on treating themselves than their pets!
Flexible Packaging Migration
It was also apparent that many in the industry are migrating from canned products to more flexible packaging.
Understandable given the range of packaging features available that help to prolong shelf life, create convenience and help shelf presentation.
This came as no surprise to us as we have seen an increase in interest in our resealable packaging features. Our zipper, Aplix/Velcro bags and pouches are popular pet food packaging solutions that many of our clients currently choose.
Another area of particular interest is the Aqua Project. Some of this space is devoted to aquariums set up by exhibitors. This recreates a fascinating range of different habitats and ideas.
It is because of these hugely aesthetic areas and the sheer size of the exhibit; along with the diverse selection of pet products, exhibitors and number of attendees, that gives Zoomark has its top place in the trade show world.
