We helped them to step up the recyclable mono material bags even further, by upgrading the print process from Hybrid to Rotogravure and ensuring exact colour matching.

The bags are crafted from a mono material MDOPE / LLDPE structure, providing robust sustainable credentials that perfectly align with Barking Heads’ brand ethos. The packaging solution maintains the product’s quality and integrity and enhances its on-shelf appeal, making it an attractive choice for environmentally-conscious consumers.

An essential aspect of this relaunch was ensuring that all the colours would be re-adjusted to be as intended in the original artwork files, but had gradually been poorly reprinted. Moving away from the Hybrid printing process, Law Print chose to print the bags in Rotogravure and used its expertise in colour management to make sure that the whole range was now uniform and consistent across same variants in different sizes.

Through our collaboration with both their marketing and commercial teams, Law Print has put the Barking Heads range back on track and it has now re-gained a significant competitive edge in the pet food market. Their new packaging seamlessly combines functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability—a unique blend, that differentiates them from their competitors. The new recyclable Flat Bottom & Quad Seal bags not only reflect the brand’s commitment to pet health and environmental factors but also set a new benchmark in the premium high meat content dog food sector.

Under new brand ownership, the Barking Heads range of premium dog food already benefited from great exposure in the pet trade but was yet to bring its sustainable packaging to the next level. IPN has been a long standing customer of Law Print, so we were pleased to be tasked with the project. Main challenge was to bring back the integrity and aesthetics of the brand, so we carefully listened and proposed the best solution to meet the expectations from both their marketing and commercial teams.
