Canagan Dog & Cat Food
Recyclable Relaunch

When Symply Pet Foods engaged Law Print on the rebrand of the Canagan core range, the ambition was clear: to evolve the packaging in line with sustainability goals while preserving the premium quality and performance the brand is known for.

The project focused on relaunching the dog and cat food bags with a future-ready packaging solution that aligned with Canagan’s market-leading position. The shift was driven by the need to improve recyclability without compromising the high barrier properties essential for protecting pet food or the strong shelf presence that defines the brand.

Working in close partnership, Law Print brought specialist expertise in sustainable materials, high-performance packaging, and premium print execution. This long-standing collaboration ensured a seamless relaunch—setting a new benchmark for sustainable pet food packaging.

The Challenge

Pet food packaging demands exceptional protection to preserve freshness, flavour, and nutritional integrity.

At the same time, Canagan wanted to transition away from traditional multi-material laminates and move toward a recyclable solution—without losing its distinctive metallic aesthetic and premium feel.

Maintaining product pallatability and a luxurious appeal remained critical throughout the project.

The Solution: Recyclable PE MET Mono Material Structure

Law Print recommended a recyclable mono material structure using PE MET, carefully engineered to meet Canagan’s technical and brand requirements. This solution delivers:

  • High Barrier Performance, protecting pet food from oxygen, moisture, and light
  • Recyclability, supporting Canagan’s sustainability commitments
  • Premium Metallic Finish, retaining the brand’s distinctive shelf impact

By using PE MET, Canagan achieved the best of both worlds: functional performance and a clear step forward in sustainable packaging design.

Design Evolution: Sustainability as a Catalyst for Brand Refresh

The sustainability upgrade also provided an opportunity to enhance the pack design.

Canagan refreshed the back-of-pack illustrations across the range, introducing vibrant, high-quality food imagery paired with an elegant, modern slate background.

The result is a cleaner, more contemporary look that reinforces the brand’s premium positioning while improving visual engagement.
