We have been lucky enough to work on a diverse range of projects with the team at Symply Pet Foods. When introduced to the Canagan Dog Food concept back in 2012 we could see it would make a lasting impression on the pet food market. The brand concept and packaging designs were completely unique and we were itching to get started with packaging development.

Our Solution

We worked with the team from artwork consultation to delivery to their packer, all the time helping to rebuild their trust in a reliable packaging supplier. On the strength of the initial Canagan launch, we’ve helped Symply Pet Foods re-vamp their Symply core range in 2013 as well as re-launching and extending the Canagan Dog Food range in 2014-2015. The strength of the brand has now seen the team rolling out their success to Japan, the US and China soon, with adapted or translated packaging.

We also introduced Symply to DCP our sister design agency which played a key role in updating, re-purposing and translating packaging created by their existing designer, which allowed us to establish a really strong and close partnership, working efficiently together and overcoming time-sensitive challenges as a team rather than a mere customer-supplier relationship.

Innovation

When we launched the Canagan Dog Food range, we introduced bags with matt varnish rather than matt material and suggested using the metallised film to enhance the bag look by showing the silver effect through parts of the design, which helped create the desired more premium look.

We recently moved from the traditional quad seal bags to a more modern, optimised flat bottom bag format, with added zippers for the bags destined for the Japanese market.

Colour Management

The customer had worked on new design concepts and developed very specific colours to achieve the look they wanted.  Back in 2012, it was one of the first projects where we had to produce ink draw downs for the variant colours but also match to a particular Cream / Cool Grey background colour across the range. Colour management was paramount and we believe the successful colour consistency is a contributing factor to the quality finish of the Canagan Dog Food brand.

Since the first brief, Law Print Pack have managed all the dry food ranges for both Canagan Cat and Canagan Dog, as well as stand up pouches for Canagan Biscuit Bakes.
