Canagan Petite Dog Food

Since the launch of the Canagan core range in 2012, the Symply Group has positioned itself as a leading name in the premium pet food sector. From the beginning, Law Print has been their trusted packaging partner – bringing quality and innovation to support their growth.

With a clear vision to extend their successful Canagan brand to cater to small dog breeds, they initiated the rebranding of their existing Piccolo range into Canagan Petite—a natural range extension for discerning pet owners.

The complete revamp was further enhanced by the introduction of PE MET in the mono material structure of the bags, which allowed them to keep the same luxurious aesthetics for the designs whilst retaining the required barrier properties for the product content. A first of its kind in the UK pet food sphere!

The Challenge

Symply Group entrusted Law Print with the complete redevelopment of the Canagan Petite packaging—tasked with:

  • Helping the creative agency with the rebranding of the identity from Piccolo to align with the Canagan brand
  • Transitioning to a mono material solution to meet recyclability goals
  • Maintaining premium shelf appeal and barrier performance
  • Executing the project to align with the brand’s showcase at Zoomark 2025

The compressed project timeline and need to trial a technically demanding new material added significant complexity—especially given the structure of Flat Bottom Bags, which are already more challenging to produce in PE/PE material combination.

Innovative Packaging Solution

The new Canagan Petite bags were not only reimagined visually—with beautiful botanical and aquatic themes to reflect the brand’s natural ethos—but also technically upgraded.

We introduced a mono material metallised PE film structure (PE MET)—a market first in the pet food industry. This innovative material retained critical barrier properties for freshness while enabling recyclability, fulfilling both performance and sustainability goals.

Outcome & Conclusion

The project culminated in a successful rebrand ready for launch at Zoomark 2025, showcasing the new Canagan Petite range to an international audience. The updated flat bottom bags exemplify a blend of premium design, functional innovation, and eco-conscious materials.
