Uppy Natur - Continente

Amongst the pandemic, Portuguese supermarket chain Continente announced the launch of a new premium private-label dog and cat food brand, Uppy Natur.  Having supplied quality packaging to pet food packers for various brands, Law Print had already established a trusted partnership with many pet food retailers.

We’ve been working in the pet industry for over 15 years, mainly supplying packaging for dry pet food and treats in the UK and overseas. Based on our long standing relationships with many leading industry packers, we were tasked with this new project from a different production site in Spain.

With a growing presence amongst European customers, Law Print was recommended to the Spanish entity as their first choice packaging partner. In recent years, we have in fact gained vast knowledge and experience in supplying packaging internationally, which has also recently been strengthened thanks to our new EU set-up.

What did we do?

The brand move aims to cater to the growing demand for pet food that guarantees better nutrition and higher quality of life for cats and dogs. The products offered in the range are hypoallergenic, which reduces the possibility of food allergies or intolerances in animals. The food range includes highly digestible items with probiotics that help essential functions such as cognitive development, functioning of the digestive tract, skin and hair.

Not only did we supply the packaging itself, but we also collaborated with our customer directly on the artwork development to achieve the best printing results. Printing expertise and colour management are what Law Print is well-known for and why customers come to us in the first place.

As these were the first PE bags for the Spanish packer, they were happy to listen to our advice and follow our spec recommendation. Continente wanted a combination of Pouches and Flat Bottom Bags, both in a recyclable material to fit with their Natur range ethos. With our vast experience of PE/PE mono material structures, we were able to design a bag that fulfilled all the requirements set by the Portuguese retailer for this important launch.

The new company set-up allows us to overcome any Brexit related delays and continue providing our best service levels. This has been a huge asset to us in gaining new European business despite the recent EU changes and will allow us to continually exceed higher and more prevalent expectations throughout the coming months and years.

With our competitive lead times, we were in a prime position to supply the packaging and deliver the volumes they needed to get off on a strong footing, within the deadline that was mutually agreed.

When it comes to customers based overseas, Law Print has gained expert knowledge of most markets and understand that expectations might be culturally different.

We have also worked globally since the very beginning with suppliers based in the Far East and customers spanning across several continents, so managing projects at an international scale has become second nature.
