Gem Pack Foods has been making baking a piece of cake for decades, by offering an array of products from dried fruits and nuts to flour and sugar products. Mostly packed in paper bags, Law Print has supplied the flourishing business for more than 15 years.

Providing packaging for both flour and sugar under the GEM brand, we have worked closely with the Irish company to ensure that the bags are suitable for the baking products, making it easy to pack them but also giving the consumers the required shelf-life and convenient pack sizes.

What did we do?

Gem Pack Foods started out as a small importer of specialist dried fruit, nuts and seeds. Over time, their products have been used to create wholesome and home-baked treats to enjoy as a family. Today, in homes, cafes, restaurants, and more, their flour and sugar products can be found everywhere you eat.

They are passionate about baking and cooking, and they are constantly trying to develop new products and packaging formats to make life in the kitchen easy and fun for everyone. Paper bags are suitable for all sorts of sugar – granulated, caster and demerara, you name it! Additional barrier properties and coating liners sometimes have to be considered for icing sugar and some flour products. This is where Law Print’s expertise comes into play, as we have supplied flour and sugar mills for over 20 years.

In fact, bags can be manufactured from a wide range of paper types with 1-3 plies. From machine finished to clay coated paper, Law Print can specify the right thickness and finish to suit your product applications. You can add lamination to the bag or give it an edge with varnishes. If your product speaks for itself, such as flour, you can also consider windows. Handles give an extra helping hand to your customers too.

Now brands also often think outside the box – sorry, the paper bags, and like Gem Pack, they might prefer to pack their specialist sugar products in practical pouches with a spout for the retail environment. But this is another story, so watch this space!
