M&S Dry Pet Food

Over the years, Law Print have worked on a number of projects for major UK retailers. Our latest brief was set by C&D Foods, to manage the packaging supply for Marks and Spencer’s pet food re-design.

Increasing numbers of retailers are focusing on developing competitive own label ranges, as the pet food market proves ever profitable.

With such a minimalist grayscale design and contrasting bright, bold colourways, we knew the new range would have a great impact in store. The new lines will be M&S’s largest dry pet food range to date and their first re-design since 2012.

What did we do?

Materials & Manufacturing Expertise

Format Optimisation

Pre-and Post-Press Quality Management

Print & Colour Management

Supply Chain Logistics

After making headlines with their new sustainability plan ‘Plan A 2025,’ the challenge would be to provide M&S with packaging formats to suit.

The first step to a more sustainable solution was to optimise C&D’s existing packaging by reducing material usage. This enabled the product to utilise more space and appear fuller, whilst reducing the overall packaging waste. From working on projects across the industry, we were able to advise on the most suitable closure mechanism for this type of dry pet food. Pocket zippers are a great way to encourage product re-use, whilst helping to extend shelf life, minimising food waste.

With plastic in the hot seat at the moment, it’s been our priority to ensure we are approaching packaging with a sustainable outlook. Introducing smaller pack sizes with re-usable features not only helps us to deliver a great looking and practical product but also improve sustainability; coinciding with M&S’ Plan A 2025
Melissa Hogan-KnottSales Account Manager

“I have worked on multiple projects with Law Print Pack and they have delivered yet another fantastic product. This was a new customer for both the C&D factory & Law Print; the project was handled smoothly and effectively from concept to delivery and within the tight timescales expected from both sides. C&D, and most importantly the customer, were very happy with the look and quality of the finished product and we are all excited to see its presence on shelf”

– Adam Hickson, Key Account Manager C&D Foods
