The brand team came to us to update their range of chocolate snacks. They chose us based on our expertise in the food sector but also knowing that we would advise them on the best specifications needed for the packaging to meet their sustainability goals.

Looking for a recyclable solution to fit in with some existing bags already in their portfolio, Olly’s opted for a practical small stand-up pouch in PE/PE from our Ready2Recycle mono material range.

Olly’s chocolate pretzels are a delicious snack that combines the sweet and savoury flavours of chocolate and pretzels. These treats are made by coating salty pretzels with a layer of rich, creamy chocolate, creating a satisfying, crunchy and indulgent snack.

Like many other businesses, the brand was getting more and more conscious about the use of plastic for its products, so it’s important to note that some types of plastic, such as PE (Polyethylene) or PP (Polypropylene) are easily recyclable and can be reused to make new products.

Packaging Design

Olly’s chocolate pretzels are typically packaged in a resealable bag or container, which helps to keep the pretzels fresh and crunchy. The packaging often features a picture of the chocolate-covered pretzels, as well as the Olly’s brand name and logo.

Stand Up Pouches are a useful addition as they’re lightweight and can come with value added features such easy open cuts or euro slots. They can also, like their name suggests, stand up on shelf which is a great way to display a product in store.

One thing that stands out about Olly’s packaging is the attention to detail. The packaging is designed to be visually appealing, with bright colours and attractive graphics that catch the eye. The branding is also consistent across different products and flavours, creating a cohesive and recognisable look.

Having the pouches printed in Rotogravure process ensured that the Lilac brand colour and the photographic image were both vibrant and representative of the quality of the product.

As part of our Ready2Recycle range of sustainable solutions, Law Print supplied the pouches using MDOPE material extruded in-house at our partner manufacturing site, giving extra strength and higher barrier properties to enhance the specifications of the packaging. Perfect for a crunchy snack!

Having worked on a number of pet food and protein powder projects, it was great to develop a packaging solution for a sweet snack product where our knowledge of the food industry could shine equally. Based on similar requirements – keep the product fresh and protect the content from oxygen and moisture, the challenge was in specifying a recyclable solution at the same time. We met both performance and sustainability targets by delivering beautifully printed PE/PE pouches.
