Tropica Aquarium Substrate

Working extensively in the pet care sector, not only do we supply pet food packaging but we also serve a lot of other pet brands that sell products such as aquarium gravel and substrate, like Tropica.

Law Print was tasked by their long standing customer Pettex to provide the packaging for the brand’s plant care range, which is available in 1L, 2.5L and 5L sizes. 

Favouring K-seal pouches for strength and maximum impact, the packs also feature easy open cuts and special bottom perforations for convenience and packing efficiency.

What did we do?

Based in Denmark, Tropica’s motto is to increase the joy and experience of having an aquarium as a hobby. The company has developed this media for home aquarium plants, which can be used with gravel and soil, to improve plant growth through the roots.

For the plant care products, the brand chose a Stand Up Pouch format across the whole range. Pouches are a very popular pack format, with brands often choosing them for their size and portability.

The options available for pouches are incredibly useful for convenience and marketability. Combined with suitable materials, K-Seal style pouches also offer the strength and stability required for packing more compact products and heavier weights such as sands and substrates from 1Kg to 8Kg bags.

From the initial concept stages, the packaging team at Tropica highlighted the need to create a practical and single-use pack. The pouches are lightweight and include easy-tear notches for ease of use when filling aquariums.

The range concept is simple but effective and the design reflects this. The pouch is mostly white, with a green leaf plant illustration and grey lettering, which provide a cool but great contrast. It also includes a half-circle clear window, which allows a great view of the product itself.

Tropica Substrate acts as a long-term nutrition store for water plants, so ensuring magnificent and healthy water plant growth. Packed in the UK and distributed throughout Europe, Law Print delivered a packaging solution fit for purpose.
