8 Reasons to Hire a Graphic Designer For Your Next Packaging Project

August 26, 2020Sarah Lewis
Reading Time: 3 minutes

You’ve spent all your time looking into the perfect packaging. You stumbled across Law Print Pack… eureka! We have everything you need – product expertise, vast market knowledge, global pool of carefully selected suppliers, an array of practical features and the unique selling point of a complete range of recyclable options. But then it comes to the design.

Ideally, you will already have an idea of what you’d like on your bags. But, in case you haven’t and you’re thinking of doing it all by yourself, read on – we have a few words of advice!

Here are some reasons why you should hire a graphic designer for your next packaging project.

‘Aviod’ those ‘tpyos’

Graphic Designers are usually part of a team. Within that team, they’ll have a copywriter. They should be able to proofread their own work as well as have a 2nd or 3rd person on hand to spot any typos.

They’re full of professionalism

As part of their work, they should have the right programs to do the job. If you try to do this yourself in Photoshop (or, god forbid, MS Paint!) then you’ll struggle to find a reputable company that would even be prepared to print your artwork.

They’re up to date with the newest Graphic Design trends and features

Their job is to keep up with the ever-changing design landscape. This means they’ll be researching what trends are in and what trends will come in the future. So, you can count on the fact they will be looking into your competitors and aligning your work with theirs (and making it far better!) to make your product stand out against the crowd.

Save your money

If you end up printing something that is not to your liking then you’ll waste a lot of money. Most printing companies have a minimum order quantity (ours is 10000) which is a lot to lose. Graphic Designers can mock up your artwork in such a way that you can view what the design will look like without needing to print anything at all.

They have the knowledge to keep you on the right side of the law

Current UK government guidelines say that you need to include certain symbols and information depending on the product. They’ll be able to find out exactly what they need to be and they’ll be able to fit these onto the product without deterring from the design.

You’ll build new and helpful relationships

By gaining more contacts within the industry you’ll be able to contact them with any problems and they should be able to guide you with whatever problems you may have.

They’re environmentally savvy

Although we’re pretty good at this ourselves, they can make sure that you’ve picked the right products for your brand. If your ethos is that of sustainability, you’ll want something that aligns with this.

 You’ll save your time

Choosing a graphic designer means you’ll have more time to sort out your actual business! It not only takes a massive weight off your shoulders but by investing in a Graphic Designer you’re also investing in yourself. It means that your employees aren’t without you for too long and your main work is not compromised by you not being there.

There are many more reasons that we haven’t even touched upon but overall, you can save time, get a better design, keep up to date with your own work and build relationships.

Then, when you have chosen your Graphic Designer and given them your initial brief, it is a great time to get in touch with Law Print Pack so we can make sure that all the artwork concept and design ideas are aligned with the printing process that will be used to make your packaging. Please invite us to your pre-artwork meetings, trust us – it will save you time and money!

If you’d like more information, please contact us or drop us an email. We’re happy to help no matter which stage of the packaging journey you’re at!
