The last two years have been a whirlwind. Understandably, we’ve received many enquiries from worried customers. The overall consensus is that businesses are concerned about receiving their packaging on time and inevitably about costs increasing.
With the ongoing freight crisis which is still not showing signs of easing and the way Brexit massively disrupted nearly every part of everyday life, not just for businesses but for customers themselves, we found ourselves constantly trying to reassure our clients that we were on top of everything and essentially doing all we could and the very best we could to support them through these challenges.
Which, for the most part, we were. The controllable components, we, well, controlled. Things like material specifications, artwork, trial bags and samples. Other aspects, such as receiving the packaging from our overseas partners in our standard lead times, were unfortunately entirely taken out of our hands once the bags were produced and shipped.
However, as we turn a new page into 2022 and start looking towards what the future holds, we’re getting back in a stronger position than we were before and in a better position to help and advise customers, new and old, on what they should do with their packaging projects. We have been working hard to onboard new partner manufacturers and develop innovative products to give our existing customers a comparative edge and our prospects in new sectors some very interesting packaging solutions. Our aim is to keep you moving through 2022.
That’s why, when you choose Law Print, you can be sure that we will:
-
Reinforce our commitment to sustainability
This includes championing the use of conventional and recyclable plastics in equal measure. It also means that we have constantly liaised with our overseas partners to ensure their environmental impact lessens throughout the year. For example, since 2020, our freight carriers have committed to reducing the amount of sulphur content in their fuel, creating a more sustainable service throughout the world.
-
Continue to support customers throughout significant events such as the upcoming plastic tax
With Ready2Recycle, we are continuing our quest to make sure the bags are fully compliant with the UK Plastic Packaging Tax that is coming into effect in April of this year. The tax, announced in 2020, applies to packaging that contains more plastic by weight than any other single material, and the definition of plastic includes biodegradable and compostable plastics. However, plastic packaging that has at least 30% recycled content and customers using less than the 10 tons threshold are exempt.
-
Keep you moving through 2022 with communication constant during projects
We’re now able to schedule meetings with customers face-to-face, including those who are overseas. This is vital for us, as not only does it demonstrate our dedication to our clients, but we also know that in-person contact helps to ensure that we are giving our customers exactly what they need and gives them peace of mind.
-
Commit to keep costs as low as possible and reduce lead times as we continue to navigate through Brexit, the freight crisis and the aftermath of the pandemic
The last two years have meant we’ve had to make a few sacrifices, mainly our short lead times of 9-10 weeks. We’re committed to bringing back these lower lead times by working with our partners throughout the world. Whilst shorter lead times sometimes means that we are often paying over the odds for sea-air services or direct airfreights, we’re working harder than ever to make sure these prices remain as low as possible and are always quoted at costs. We know that customers sometimes need bags quicker than the 14-16 weeks we’re currently quoting. As it stands, we might be able to reduce some of these lead times in exceptional circumstances, but regrettably, these are still increased for most customers.
-
Remain fully transparent regarding any added costs that customers may incur
As above, if the freight crisis continues, we’ll remain fully transparent with any current and potential customers regarding any extra costs that we may have to add to our normal prices and for new projects. So you can be sure that you’ll never be surprised by a price we give you, and you’ll always be kept in the loop.
We will keep you moving through 2022. If your brand wants to invest in quality packaging, we will guide you through the entire print process. In addition, we are providing recommendations along the way to improve efficiency, reduce costs and add untold value to the end product.
