Sustainable pouches open up a world of possibilities. They’re one of the most versatile products that we supply and can be used for almost anything.

As more and more people are looking to keep active after the pandemic and many workers returning to the office, taking nutritious snacks out and about in a portable way has become a number one priority.

What do your customers want from their snack pouches? We know they want freshness, compactness and versatility. They want to be able to reseal the package when out and about, they want to be confident that the product can’t be contaminated when in transit and overall they want to be sure they’ve made the right choice in choosing to buy your product, especially when sustainability comes into play.

Pouches can be used for a variety of different products including liquid-based, but for the purposes of this blog we’d like to focus on snacks such as:

  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Dried fruit
  • Biscuits
  • Cheese

Did you know that according to the new market research report “Flexible Plastic Pouches Market by Material (PE, PP), Type (Flat Pouches, Stand-up Pouches), Application (Food, Beverage), and Region (APAC, North America, Europe, South America, and the Middle East & Africa) – Global Forecasts to 2026,” published by MarketsandMarkets, the flexible plastic pouches market size is estimated at USD 53.7 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach USD 73.5 billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 6.5%. So it’s never been a better time to kick start your pouch journey and reach your potential.

As we’ve mentioned many times before and is plain to see just by looking around, sustainability is very high on consumers’ list of reasons to choose a product.

For this reason, our Ready2Recycle range is a huge hit with many brands utilising our mono material PE/PE pouches for their on-the-go snacks.

Pouches are incredibly well-rounded and, because of their design and shape, are incredibly lightweight meaning they don’t need much space when shipping, can be stacked efficiently on shelves.

What’s more, when it comes to user experience, they are compact enough to fit in bags or suitcases and can feature a variety of different options such as easy-tear scoring, resealable zippers and clear windows.

The branding space on pouches is second to none, with 2 panels ready and waiting for your artwork. Our rotogravure printing process allows up to 9 different colours so stand-out artwork is achievable and can be witnessed by simply viewing our huge and varied portfolio of work.

We understand the importance of shelf appeal, especially when it comes to more premium products. The laminated top layer means that we can get gravure print up to 9 colours and provide that quality finish that many recyclable materials can’t. No longer do you have to choose between recyclable and attractive packaging.

Brands are choosing pouches for their size and portability. The options available for pouches are incredibly useful for convenience and marketability.

All of these options are available in a mono material specification so they don’t affect the pouches’ recyclability.

For those who can’t recycle plastic film at home, some types of plastic films can be recycled at carrier bag collection points at the larger stores of most major supermarkets including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, The Co-op and Waitrose.

For online shopping deliveries, many supermarkets also allow you to hand your unwanted bags back to the driver for recycling. Most packaging will have information on the bag explaining where the bags can be recycled, or you can visit the brand’s website.

When travelling with snacks, it’s important for the pouch to keep the freshness of the bag. Our pouches with resealable zippers can be opened and closed many times without losing effectiveness.

The barrier properties on our recyclable films are robust, giving protection against water and dirt, allowing for safe transit to wherever in the world they are heading.

Ready2Recycle packaging is sustainable and hygienic. By choosing BOPP, Flat Bottom, Quad Seal bags or Pouches made in the mono-material structure of PP/PP or PE/PE, you’re ensuring that the demand for 100% recyclable packaging creates itself within our communities.

At the moment, although steps are starting to be taken, our local councils across the UK are not investing in enough technology to recycle these bags. Supermarkets currently have stations, enabling customers to drop off recyclable shopping bags. They’re also able to drop off different bags, such as some of our customer’s packaging, i.e. Symply, Yora and Scrubbingtons.

If your brand wants to invest in quality packaging, we will guide you through the entire print process. In addition, we are providing recommendations along the way to improve efficiency, reduce costs and add untold value to the end product.
